Dr. Myburgh is a family physician with interest in musculoskeletal medicine, sports and exercise medicine and musculoskeletal ultrasound, especially ultrasound-guided injection therapy.
He is interested in neuropathic pain and peripheral nerve entrapment syndromes. Other interests include: chronic headaches, neck and back pain. He works in close collaboration with physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists from HealthePointe in Edmonton to provide a spine care service.
He joined Central Alberta Orthopedics in 2016 and provides acute musculoskeletal care in the Brent Sutter Sports Medicine Centre and chronic musculoskeletal care at the MSK/ultrasound clinic.
Education:
He obtained his medical degree and completed his residency in South Africa in 1999 and went on to work as a Resident Medical Officer in the United Kingdom. He moved to Canada in 2001 and did rural family and emergency medicine until 2010 when he moved to Red Deer, Alberta. He completed his Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine in 2013. His ultrasound training was done in the US and Canada.
