In only 20 minutes, you can painlessly stimulate bone regrowth at the fracture site with LIPUS (Low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound). LIPUS is a relatively new tool for accelerating fracture healing of fresh fractures and non-unions. It is a noninvasive ultrasound technology worn directly against the skin, which sends ultrasound pulses through the tissue to stimulate the bone to heal. Research has found that using LIPUS for fresh fractures showed significant improvements in time to fracture healing. LIPUS is also useful in the treatment of challenging, established non-unions. The Melmak LIPUS Bone Healing Device has been used successfully by several patients of Central Alberta Orthopedics. Benefits have included faster healing and faster return to regular lifestyle. LIPUS is only available by prescription by a doctor. If you are a patient, ask your surgeon if you are a candidate for LIPUS. If you are not a patient of Central Alberta Orthopedics, you will need a referral from your family doctor. Have them specify you would like to be considered for a Melmak LIPUS Bone Healing Device. |
